Why We Have Mother’s Day

Bradley Mattes   |   August 18, 2017

Here are two more reasons we have Mother’s Day.  Dr. Amanda Hess was in a hospital gown, there to deliver her baby, when she heard a mother crying in pain.  Both the mother and baby were in distress and the on-call doctor was out of the hospital on break.  Dr. Hess donned another gown to hide her backside and proceeded to deliver the baby girl.  Hours later she gave birth to her own…  Danielle Gaither suffers from Marfan syndrome, a chronic condition affecting her heart among other things.  She was late in pregnancy when she suffered life-threatening complications.  Doctors did both open heart surgery and a C-section with a slim chance of survival.  Her baby boy was fine, but Danielle spent months recovering in the hospital.  God made moms out of sturdy stock.
