Their Angst is Our Success

In my experience, the more the other side yells, fusses, and fumes, the more effective we are in our efforts to protect innocent human life.

Case in point. Liberal Democrat operatives and politicians are expressing outrage over the laws being passed to protect voter integrity. Without secure and fair elections, we are powerless to elect pro-life representation who will go to the mat for America’s unborn babies and their mothers.

Lately, there have been encouraging signs that this legislation is hitting its mark in protecting your vote at the polls.

The state legislation garnering the most media attention has been Georgia which made it easy to vote and hard to cheat. Now that the dust has settled a bit, we’re seeing just how alarmed the other side is at their lack of ability to counter this measure and similar bills in other states – 18 since January 1.

One of their primary concerns is new voter ID requirements for mail-in ballots, which they claim disenfranchise minorities. Adding to the political operatives’ frustrations is that their Democratic base doesn’t appear to share their concern.

Doug Herman, a former lead mail strategist for Barack Obama, said that the goal of the Republican Party is to “restrict the voting process so severely that only their voters can participate.” He added, “And I don’t understand the lack of fierce resistance to that from Americans and Democrats.”

That absence of “resistance” is largely because most Americans of either party, or regardless of ethnicity, support requiring an ID to vote.  Today an ID is required before conducting a wide variety of daily tasks like driving, banking, purchasing alcohol or a cell phone.

In Georgia’s case, if the voter doesn’t have an ID number, they can provide a utility bill, bank statement or other form of ID. They can also secure a free ID at a county election office or at the Department of Driver Services.

What the voter ID requirement does, according to its proponents, is help protect against fraudulent voting.

There has been no shortage of political hyperbole and outright lies in response to election integrity legislation. Donna Brazile, a former DNC chair claimed Republicans were putting up “enormous roadblocks to the freedom to vote for every citizen.” Georgia state Rep. Sam Park painted his political opponents as “politicians coming after your ability to cast your vote.”

But it was Nsé Ufot, CEO of the New Georgia Project founded by Stacey Abrams, who put things into perspective in her profanity-laced statement. “If there isn’t a way for us to repeat what happened in November 2020, we’re ****ed.”

What happened in November is the impetus behind the bills to protect election integrity.

Millions of Americans felt the November election results were at the very least questionable. Many believe the presidential election was stolen, and Ms. Ufot’s statement adds credence to their concerns.

Joe Biden’s Department of Justice understands the political stakes involved and is challenging these new voter laws based upon what they charge is an intent by the legislatures to discriminate.

I’ll leave the legal analysis of their strategy to the experts. What is clear, though, is these legislative victories are advancing our mission to end abortion. And they serve as an important reminder that every legal vote counts because the frontline of the abortion battle is in state legislatures and with local governments.

It’s crucial that we vote pro-life. Every time. On every level.
