There’s been an exciting legal development in Tennessee. The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the state can end discrimination or eugenic abortions based on the baby’s sex, race or a diagnosis of Down syndrome. It’s really good news because Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas invited such legislation, stating in an opinion last year, “Although the Court declines to wade into these issues today, we cannot avoid them forever.” In America, over 2/3 of babies diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted. Girl babies are almost exclusively the victims when abortion is done based on the baby’s sex. Seventy-eight percent of Planned Parenthood abortion mills target women of color. I pray the Tennessee decision will pave the way for desperately needed change.
