For his doctoral dissertation research, Steven Jacobs titled his study “Balancing Abortion Rights and Fetal Rights.” He surveyed thousands of Americans, asking them a multiple-choice question of who was best qualified to determine when life begins. The choices were biologists, religious leaders, voters, philosophers or Supreme Court justices. A vast majority – eighty percent – said biologists. Then Dr. Jacobs polled thousands of biologists from around the world, asking them when life begins. Nearly all of them – ninety-six percent – said life begins at fertilization. The life or death decision of abortion shouldn’t be based on a political agenda or social problems. It should be based on science – the reality that God-given life is present.
