The Pope Speaks Up On Abortion

On Saturday the Pope was speaking to the Forum of Family Associations.  Setting his prepared remarks aside, he spoke off the cuff and from the heart about abortion.  Addressing the issue of aborting babies with disabilities, the Pontiff said, “I’ve heard it’s fashionable, or at least usual…they do studies to see if the child is healthy.”  He then added that if the baby isn’t, the first option offered is abortion.  The Pope’s next words were unmistakably clear.  This, he said, is “the murder of children…We do the same as the Nazis to maintain the purity of the race, but with white gloves.”  He added, these children must be “received as they come, as God sends them.”  Thank you, Pope Francis, for boldly standing up for the most vulnerable among us.
