Here’s the perfect June story, during the month of brides. Maryanne and Tommy Pilling recently celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary. What makes this joyous milestone more significant is both the husband and wife have Down syndrome. Because they were the first couple with this condition to wed, there was no shortage of criticism from all around the world. Many predicted the marriage wouldn’t last. But this loving couple has proven them wrong! During the first years of their marriage, Maryanne and Tommy lived with Maryanne’s family, but for the last 15 they’ve been in an apartment on their own. During this Month of Love, let’s remember this couple and thank God for the blessing of marriage in their lives, a goal we all strive to achieve.
