Incompatible with Life

Bradley Mattes   |   February 08, 2018

When a doctor tells a couple expecting a baby there are serious issues with their child, parents sometimes hear the phrase “incompatible with life” when describing their baby’s condition.  But the term “incompatible with life” is a judgment by the doctor, not a medical diagnosis.  That term is a value judgement on a child’s life.  It conveys an attitude, not reality.  Often what the parents hear next is the term “early induction” which is a nice way of saying abortion.  They mean induce delivery of the baby and allow the child to die.  It’s simply a late-term abortion disguised in acceptable terminology.  Parents, I pray you’ll never be in this situation, but if you are, please remember God has a plan for your baby regardless of length of life or condition.
