Like Roaches, Abortionists Fear the Light

For eons, pro-abortion activists and the abortion industry have proclaimed that abortion has to be legal; otherwise women will resort to dangerous illegal abortions. And illegal abortion means women will die.

Either it’s been a bad couple of months for abortionists or illegal abortions are far more common than the abortion industry wants to admit.

The truth is that even though abortion is legal in all 50 states, it hasn’t stopped shady illegal abortionists who butcher women and their babies and are every bit as grotesque as Kermit Gosnell.

Michael Roth is a Michigan abortionist with a sordid reputation and a home on the Orchard Lake waterfront, where houses can fetch $3 million and more. Repeated malpractice complaints testify to his incompetence. Michigan cited him twice for incompetence and negligence in the late 1990s for doing home abortions and again in 2004. He was fined and put on probation in 2002 for having a drug license 20 years out of date and again in 2012 for keeping shoddy records of prescription drugs.

Roth might have stayed under the radar if he hadn’t hit a disabled person with his car about three weeks ago. When police searched his car, they found “14 containers of human tissue, possibly fetuses, [and] medical equipment” in the trunk, along with large quantities of Fentanyl, a powerful painkiller. Federal agents later raided his home and his office. He hasn’t yet been charged, but investigators believe he is still doing car-trunk abortions.  If that’s the case, the thought of an illegal abortionist driving around town with the bodies of babies in his trunk is tragic and very disturbing.

In South Carolina, James Pendergraft and his wife were pulled over October 5 for a traffic violation. Pendergraft is a late-term abortionist with a nasty past stretching back decades. His medical license was suspended in Florida in 2006, and in 2008 he agreed not to practice in North Carolina. In 2011 he was linked to an abortionist at a secret site in Maryland that authorities later shut down; Pendergraft hasn’t had a license in Maryland since 1999. He doesn’t have a license in South Carolina, either. During the traffic stop, police found medical instruments in the trunk of his car with blood and tissue still clinging to them. They also found enough marijuana to charge his wife with intent to distribute.

“He traveled around the state of South Carolina without a medical license, with drugs and with medical tools performing in-home abortions,” said Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright. “So basically we‘ve got an illegal baby killer.”

They say what happens in ‘Vegas stays in ‘Vegas, but word is out on Rick Van Thiel. Police arrested him September 30 for practicing medicine without a license. That may be the legal term, but calling his work “medicine” is a joke. Inside a trailer on his property, Van Thiel did dozens of abortions and other procedures. Some he learned by watching YouTube! He’s a convicted felon five times over, and a second-degree murder charge is possible.

So either the abortion industry is having a really bad month, or illegal, unlicensed abortionists are like roaches—hidden but numerous. And what happens when they do illegal abortions in this vaunted age of “safe and legal”?  Talking about Pendergraft, Jeff Meister of Maryland Right to Life said he’s one of “a long line of late-term abortionists” who’ve infiltrated his state and “killed babies and seriously injured or killed women.”

Planned Parenthood has been under a harsh spotlight for months—and rightly so. But we can’t forget that across the country rogue abortionists scurry away from the light and are often caught only by accident. Gosnell was caught only because of a drug raid.

Help me share these stories that will shine a spotlight on these cockroaches of the abortion industry. Every American needs to know the ugly reality of abortion: legal or otherwise, there’s very little difference.
