It was the same cause of death for both women, but there were two very different reactions by authorities. Both Joan Rivers and Lakisha Wilson suffered acute brain injuries because of a lack of oxygen during outpatient surgeries. In the case of Joan Rivers, a famous and rich white woman, the public is clamoring for and will get justice for her avoidable death. However, Lakisha has been an entirely different story. The poor, black woman was killed by a botched, late-term abortion. Authorities quickly cleared the abortionist who botched the procedure and Timothy McGinty, the Cuyahoga County District Attorney, is reluctant to even get involved. Legal abortion is killing and maiming women while killing the children. It’s time authorities stopped these back alley style abortions.
