As you’d expect, conditions for women in Afghanistan deteriorated since the terrorist Taliban took control of the country. Women were already looked upon as chattel, mere possessions to be used and abused. It’s gotten worse, particularly in the area of labor and delivery. Now it’s typical for women to receive no pain meds or medication of any kind. There is no food, and the hospital has no electricity, so there’s no lights or air conditioning. Ambulances aren’t available because they have no fuel to run them. Afghanistan had one of the worst maternal mortality rates in the world, which began to improve with the American presence. But now that progress is ebbing away. There are many reasons to pray for the people of Afghanistan. Now, you have another.
