Canada legalized euthanasia for the terminally ill, but just five years later, they dramatically expanded those who qualify. It’s been amended to allow euthanasia for people with disabilities and mental illness. Disability rights groups are very concerned. One of Canada’s leading psychiatrists is Doctor Sono Gaind who’s an outspoken critic of the changes. He’s a professor of psychiatry at the University of Toronto, former president of the Canadian Psychiatric Association and an honorary member of the World Psychiatric Association. He even leads a Medical Assistance in Dying team in his hospital. So, if someone so dedicated to the concept of euthanasia is sounding the alarm, there’s good reason for the average citizen to be concerned. Euthanasia is an uncontrolled slippery slope.
