Since we celebrated Valentine’s Day yesterday, here’s a story to extend those warm and fuzzy feelings of love. Jim Simpson had emergency heart surgery on June 30th, 2008. Six years later, on the very same day, Jim’s grandson needed urgent heart surgery. Little James was born with Down syndrome and suffered from a serious heart issue, common with his condition. Both Jim and James recovered from their medical crises and now celebrate their “heartiversary” every June 30th. Jim’s daughter, Larkin, decided to have a photo shoot with the two, their chest scars visible as evidence to the bond they share. My favorite picture caught the pair reading a book.
