History demonstrates that advocates of abortion will never let a crisis go to waste if it can be used to advance abortion, and the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is no exception.
During the Zika health crisis, they lobbied for additional taxpayer funding to underwrite their abortion agenda, while preying upon disenfranchised women of color to further their strategy of targeting minorities.
With the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak, Americans are now being subjected to their shrill advocacy for unfettered access to abortion — including illegal and dangerous self-inflicted abortion.
In response to the COVIC-19 crisis:
Abortionist Daniel Grossman tweeted the need to “expand access to telemedicine to keep patient and providers [abortionists] safe.”
Dustin Costescu, MD tweeted that “COVID-19 is a good time to remind you that self-managed [illegal self-inflicted] abortion is safe, avoids in-person appointments…”
Abortionist Ghazeleh Moayedi demanded that officials “Remove all restrictions on abortion access now.”
Abortion advocate Robin Marty called for a “moratorium” on prosecuting cases of illegal and dangerous self-inflicted abortions.
The Guttmacher Institute (established as the research arm of Planned Parenthood) and other abortion activists are using this health crisis to attack the Trump administration’s past pro-life accomplishments, literally politicizing America’s struggle as COVID-19 inflicts a profound impact on our society.
According to a recent Huffington Post article, this call to action by abortion advocates may be more about self-preservation of the abortion industry than concern for the well-being of women. No surprise there. The subtitle read, “In many states, abortion clinics are holding on by a thread. The pandemic might put them under.” Further, abortion activists are sounding the alarm “that the spread of coronavirus could cripple abortion services…”
An obvious concern is whether or not COVID-19 will impact unborn babies. We must stress that there is no definitive data that confirms or denies a vertical transmission (mother to baby) or the tainting of breastmilk. The new COVID-19 crisis has not allowed researchers the necessary time to collect conclusive data.
However, the limited evidence we do have does not support the new wave of demands by the abortion industry and its advocates to open unrestricted access to the killing of America’s unborn children.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists stated, “Currently available data on COVID-19 does not indicate that pregnant women are at increased risk.” It added, “In limited case series reported to date, no evidence of virus has been found in the breastmilk of women infected with COVID-19.”
The Royal College of OB/GYN stated in a Q and A online article there was “no evidence that the virus can pass to your developing baby while you are pregnant.” It also said, “At the moment there is no evidence that the virus can be carried in breastmilk.”
A limited study published by the medical journal Lancet involved nine pregnant women that resulted in no evidence of a vertical transmission of COVID-19. The study tested amniotic fluid, cord blood and breastmilk samples.
The Centers for Disease Control online fact sheet states that even though “No infants born to mothers with COVID-19 have tested positive…” there is not significant evidence to indicate whether or not a pregnant woman with COVID-19 can pass the virus to her baby during pregnancy or delivery.
Americans are reeling with the impact of COVID-19 on our lives. But based on the limited evidence before us, pregnant women who are concerned about the well-being of their babies may find a measure of hope and relief.
Congress has already taken the first step toward restoration by passing the Families First Coronavirus Response Act which will provide funding to protect our citizens from COVID-19. Because the Hyde Amendment applies to these tax dollars, they cannot be used for abortion-related purposes.
For now, we have the assurance that God is firmly in control. Fear and panic can be our biggest enemies at a time of national or global crisis, so it is vital that we stay educated on the facts and respond accordingly.
We are Americans who have weathered seemingly insurmountable challenges in the past. Together, helping those around us, we will weather this storm also.
