Since Canada legalized euthanasia, the heavy-handed government has been trying to force unwilling doctors, individuals and organizations to participate in the killing, or at least refer patients to someone who will. The British Columbia government is requiring medical facilities that receive 50% or more of their budget from the government to participate in euthanasia. Delta Hospice said no, instead it would honor its founding philosophy to not kill patients. Delta offered to give up enough funding to be lower than 50% so that it could honor life at its end. However, an ideological and agenda driven government may want to force the hospice to engage in euthanasia. I’ll be watching this development and let you know if things change.
