Twin to Twin Fetal Surgery

Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome is a life-threatening condition for both unborn babies.  It results when faulty connections in blood flow develop in the placenta.  One baby is smaller than the other because blood is pumped to the larger twin.  This is most always a fatal condition.  But minimally invasive fetal laser surgery can correct the flaw in the placenta.  Even so, some doctors recommend aborting the smaller baby.  But this has a fifty percent chance of death for both babies when the laser procedure has a more than eighty percent success rate.  I interviewed the doctor who pioneered this surgery and a couple he helped.  Visit life issues dot org and click on the microphone icon to watch this amazing video, which may equip you to give hope to others.
