FDA Warns Chemical Abortion Websites

Bradley Mattes   |   March 26, 2019

The Food and Drug Administration sent letters warning two websites that are offering unapproved versions of chemical abortion pills.  Doing so bypasses critical safety precautions such as requiring a prescription from a physician.  The FDA warned that using these pills for abortion isn’t safe for women to self-diagnose and treat themselves.  It cited possible “fatal infections” and “prolonged heavy bleeding,” and a lack of access to emergency care.  The FDA gave the websites fifteen days to comply or face action.  We’ve produced a compelling brief video on chemical abortion, including a doctor who explains the risks involved, as well as two women who share their harrowing experiences with the drugs.  Visit life issues dot org to watch.
