President Speaks on Down Syndrome Awareness Month

Bradley Mattes   |   October 23, 2018

It warmed my heart that President Donald Trump made a special effort to acknowledge October as Down Syndrome Awareness Month.  I’d like to share part of his released statement.  “This month, we renew our Nation’s strong commitment to promoting the health, well-being and inherent dignity of all children and adults with Down syndrome.”  The President also said America must “empower [them] to pursue the American Dream of independence, pride in work and full participation in civil society.”  Noting the tragic rate of aborting unborn babies with Down syndrome, he said, “There remain too many people…that still see Down syndrome as an excuse to ignore or discard human life.”  Thank you, Mr. President, for standing up for all Americans.
