Since Life Issues Institute recently merged with Susan B. Anthony List, I thought you’d like to know who Susan B. Anthony was. She was a women’s suffrage leader. She was raised to believe everyone is equal before God. Her father owned a cotton mill, but he refused to buy it from farmers who owned slaves. Anthony was arrested for voting and admitted to supporting a straight Republican ticket – likely due to the Party’s abolition efforts. She said this about abortion: “I deplore the horrible crime of child-murder.” But she also had compassion for the mothers who chose abortion. “It will be a burden to her conscience in life, it will burden her soul in death.” Most feminists like Susan B. Anthony were pro-life, and now we must fulfill their legacy of loving both mother and child.
