Pro-Life Democrat Retires from Congress

Bradley Mattes   |   December 29, 2015

Over the years the Republican Party has become the pro-life party and the Democrat Party that of abortion.  Their party platforms are direct opposites on the issue of abortion.  But it doesn’t mean all elected officials tow the party line.  Congressman Joe Pitts, a Democrat representing the sixteen District of Pennsylvania, stayed true to his pro-life views.  While many during the last four decades caved into party pressure, Joe and a handful of others in the House of Representatives stood firm.  Sadly, Joe has decided to retire and not seek re-election next year.  The congressman said, “As a follower of Jesus, I plan to focus my future work on human rights and religious freedom, both domestic and international.”  We owe him our eternal thanks for being faithful throughout his political career.
