When Dr. Willke, my colleague of twenty-four years, passed away, many pro-life leaders couldn’t attend the funeral. So we recently held a Memorial Reception in Washington, DC to honor Jack’s life and legacy. A who’s who of the pro-life movement came. Speakers, who were long-time friends of Jack, reminisced about working with him on a myriad of projects and elections. Congressman Chris Smith, a close friend to me and Jack and Barbara Willke, rushed from the capitol after important votes to be with us. The most poignant moment was when Dr. Marie Willke Meyers, the eldest of six Willke children, shared intimate memories of what it was like growing up in a household led by parents who were making history.
