Euthanasia Doctor Calls Auschwitz Inspiring

Bradley Mattes   |   July 29, 2014

Just over a decade after legalizing euthanasia in Belgium, one of the so-called doctors doing the killing invited his peers to go to the Nazi death camp of Auschwitz for inspiration.  Wim Distelmans is famous for killing a transsexual man on TV and most recently deaf twins who were going blind.  None of the victims were terminal.  Wim promoted the tour and seminar on euthanasia in a brochure, calling Auschwitz “an inspiring venue.”  I’ve been to Auschwitz and like many others, found his remark beyond obscene.  The Holocaust started by doctors just like him and quickly escalated into death camps where millions were brutally murdered.  A few years ago we couldn’t imagine history repeating like this, but look what’s happening in Belgium in such a short time.
