I admit it. I’m a fan of the television show called Duck Dynasty. It’s about the Robertsons, a redneck family—with a capital R—who built a financial empire with duck calls. It’s funny, but the thing I like most is Phil, the patriarch who regularly shares Jesus during a meal prayer that ends every episode. Willie, the CEO, is considering a run for Congress and is pro-life. He’s even spoken at pregnancy help center about his adopted child. While the state Republican Party isn’t thrilled, I think Willie with his long hair, beard and common sense—not to mention a successful business career—can teach Washington a lot of things, if only they’ll listen. But some worry about him giving up a happy, happy happy life to beat his head against congressional walls in DC.
