Marathon runner Trish Staine had severe back pain after a ten-mile training run in early June. Even so, she went to her son’s basketball game and daughter’s play. Eventually, Trish thought she was dying and called an ambulance to take her to the hospital. There doctors told her she wasn’t dying. She was in labor! Even though she didn’t gain any weight or feel the baby move—and her husband had undergone a vasectomy. Minutes after finding out she was pregnant, she was looking into the face of her little girl, Mira, short for Miracle. Although born five weeks premature, she’s doing just fine. Mira joins five other siblings. In addition, the couple has two foster children and runs a foster care program. Yesterday, Trish ran the half-marathon she’d been training for when this all began.
