Feelings of Sadness Misplaced

Bradley Mattes   |   February 24, 2012

Barbara Walters made some outrageous statements regarding a Texas court decision to require women seeking abortions to first view an ultrasound and listen to the baby’’s heartbeat. Walters called it “heartbreaking” and claimed it piled on the guilt. Before I had heart surgery last summer, I had mandatory one-on-ones with multiple doctors and nurses to make sure I was informed about what was to happen and its potential consequences. Informed consent is needed much more for women who’re deciding whether or not to abort their unborn children. This is a life-and-death decision they can never reverse. And there are lots of potential physical and mental consequences. Barbara Walters needs to drop her political agenda so women can be better protected from the abortion industry.
