I Am Not for Sale

Senate 1, Children 0

When it comes to abortion, advocates of killing defenseless babies will stop at nothing to further their deadly agenda. This is no exception. I shouldn’t be shocked, but I am.

Even children enslaved in sex trafficking are persona non grata if they get in the way of pro-abortion politicians.

On Tuesday this week, all but four Democrats in the US Senate voted to block a bill that would’ve helped victims of human trafficking. Why? Because the $30 million victims’ fund created by the legislation could not be used to pay for abortions.

I Am Not for SaleAbortion is a critical part of what keeps the sex trafficking industry humming. Teens and children aren’t moneymakers for the pimps when pregnant, so they depend upon abortion to get them back onto the streets as soon as possible.

In this case we’re talking about abortion after the children are rescued. Even so, Senate Democrats want your tax dollars to fund abortion in all circumstances. Sadly, this week’s activities demonstrate how much the abortion industry controls the Democrat Party. Pro-abortion Democrat senators have been filibustering to prevent the bill from coming to the floor. Twice on Tuesday the Senate voted against ending the filibuster, which blocks the legislation and saves them from actually taking a stand on the bill itself. The votes were 55 for to 43 against, five short of the 60 needed to override the filibuster and bring the bill to the floor for an up or down vote.

Countless trafficking victims are needlessly suffering while politicians protect their pro-abortion agenda. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimates that each year 100,000 to 300,000 more American children are victimized by the sex trafficking industry.

We’re not just talking about numbers here. We’re talking about living, breathing children being desperately searched for by their parents. Children who would have a better chance of being rescued and reunited with their families—or not becoming victims at all—if more legislation regarding human trafficking becomes law.

Recently I sat down with several women who either escaped the sex trafficking industry or work to help its victims. The result was Human Trafficking, a two-part episode of Life Issues Institute’s Emmy® Award-winning TV show, Facing Life Head-On. I invite you to watch both shows and meet the real people being sacrificed on the altar of abortion by pro-abortion senators—and see why abortion plays such a critical role.

Back in January, the US House passed a package of legislation aimed at curbing human trafficking. The measures had bipartisan support. Time reported, “The bills were lauded by lawmakers from both sides of the aisle as important steps toward ending the practice, seen across the globe as a modern form of slavery.” The Senate saw the unlikely combination of Republican Rob Portman and Democrat Dianne Feinstein on the same side as cosponsors of a bill to strengthen law enforcement and prosecution of trafficking crimes. Bipartisan members of the House sponsored the Trafficking Awareness Training for Health Care Act of 2015, which would help medical schools train doctors and nurses to recognize and help victims of trafficking. The cooperation of most Senate Democrats abruptly ended when they realized they’d missed the prohibition on abortion funding.

Clearly these pro-abortion Democrats can call a truce if they want to. You and I have to make them want to.

Pressure your elected officials in Washington to stop sacrificing victims of trafficking to the god of abortion. Tell Democrats to stop partnering with the sex trafficking and abortion industries. Let them know you won’t forget this vile and cowardly act come Election Day.

  1. Keep up the good work. I wish we would call it murder and stop using their word which they invented to ease their conscience and cause less controversy when we speak of this issue. It’s nothing short of “warm blooded” murder. 42 years and the slaughter remains. God will soon have a word with this culture of death.

  2. Thank you Democrat Senators Heitkamp (N.D.), Casey (PA), Donnelly (IN), and Manchin (W.V.) for voting to invoke cloture on S 178.
