Life Issues Radio Transcript for March 19, 2010:
Playing Politics with Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Those who promote embryonic stem cell research—like President Obama—often accuse us pro-lifers of putting ideology over science, of playing politics with research.
Recent evidence shows the opposite is true. Geron Corporation submitted a request to the FDA to be the first to do human trials with embryonic stem cells. Just days after Mr. Obama took office, the FDA suddenly decided to approve their application.
A coincidence? Geron’s chief executive said it was all planned.
Geron deliberately timed its application so pro-life President Bush wouldn’t have the say. Shortly after the trials began, they were stopped and not likely to resume.
Too many problems with embryonic stem cells. If they check with me, I could’ve saved them lots of time and money.
