Teen Denied Pro-Life Honor

Elizabeth Trisler was excited to win a nationwide pro-life oratory contest. After all, it was a big deal and the competition was tough. Ohio State Representative, John Adams, wanted to acknowledge Elizabeth’s achievement. He scheduled what was a routine legislative honor for such events to be given on the House floor. But the House Speaker, Armond Budish is pro-abortion and wouldn’t permit it. Making this non-political event into one resulted in a huge controversy. It even made national headlines. Some called it an outrage. Even the ACLU took offense calling it a “troubling precedent.” Well, the pressure finally got too much for Speaker Budish and he grudgingly relented. Politicians should encourage our youth to articulate themselves on critical issues of the day, not gag them.
