Life Issues Radio Transcript for January 7, 2010:
Reported Forced Adoptions in China
You’re probably aware of China’s brutal one-child policy. Women daring to get pregnant a second time have literally been drug to abortion mills very late in pregnancy and aborted against their will.
Now Medical News Today is detailing more alarming news. Parents in China have reported having their infant daughters forcibly taken for foreign adoption. They say government officials have beaten, threatened or tricked them into relinquishing their parental rights. The report says the reality of supply and demand has created opportunities for ruthless individuals arranging adoptions. And lots of money is being made at some orphanages.
Most adoptions from China, with a majority going to America, are legitimate.
Nevertheless, it's alarming news to adoptive parents.
