New York Women Selling Their Eggs

A while back voters in the state of New York funded a huge amount of money for embryonic stem cell research. The Empire State Stem Cell Board has decided to spend some of the money paying women for their eggs. Women will get as much as ten-thousand dollars! The potential for misuse is enormous. In this tough economy poor or cash-strapped women will be lured into selling their eggs. It involves ovarian stimulation which is painful, potentially dangerous and can even cause death. The long-term effects are unknown and may result in loss of fertility. It’s selling body parts for research that kills human embryos. New York is traveling down the wrong road when science is going in the opposite direction with adult stem cells.
