Sotomayor Bias Against Men

What if I said the following: I would hope a wise white man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a Latina female who hasn’t lived that life. You and majority of Americans would probably say it’s racist and sexist for me to say a white man is smarter than a Latina woman. But this is essentially what Sonia Sotomayor, the Supreme Court nominee, said. The only change I made to her statement was to reverse the order of the white man and Latina woman. She actually voiced this bias in favor of Latina women during a lecture at Berkeley School of Law. What if a pro-life nominee had said something like this? She would’ve been castigated in the media. But so far Judge Sotomayor has gotten a free ride.
