A Mother's Ultimate Sacrifice

Some mothers make the ultimate sacrifice for their children. Lorraine Allard was nearly half way through her fourth pregnancy when she found out she had liver cancer. The young mother of three girls was advised by doctors to abort her son and immediately begin chemotherapy treatment. But Lorraine refused until her baby could be safely delivered, saying, “If I am going to die, my baby is going to live.” She delivered her son and began treatment, but it was too late. As her husband lay next to Lorraine, he could feel her heart beating against his chest until it slowed down and she peacefully slipped away. Martyn said throughout those last tough days, she was overjoyed she had given life to her son. Mother’s Day will always have a very special meaning in this home.
