Ignoring the Cries of Abortion Survivors

One topic getting the attention of bloggers right now is Barack Obama’s votes on the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act. This bill required medical facilities provide the appropriate medical care to a baby who survived a late-term abortion. As a state senator, Mr. Obama voted against the bill twice. Then, as Chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee, he prevented it from advancing to the floor. One blogger wrote Mr. Obama “closed[d] his ears to the cries of abortion survivors.” Stop and let those haunting but very accurate words sink it. Then you might understand why more and more people are questioning Mr. Obama’s compassion. If he’d vote to allow an innocent infant to die from neglect, what other decisions might he make? It sends a chill up my spine.
