PROTECT YOUR RIGHT OF DEMOCRACY Updated on 4/27/06: Life Issues Institute and other organizations have prepared a letter in response to the restriction on grassroots activity. In the wake of recent scandals involving lobbyists, Congress is eager to pass lobby reform. But in the process, the Senate is taking away the treasured right of grassroots citizens and organizations to lobby members of Congress. Any church or organization that contacts 500 or more people will be subjected to aggressive oversight by the government and excessive red tape. In effect, we would be subject to huge fines if we fail to get congressional “permission” to exercise our right to direct Congress on any issue of the day. It will severely impair the ability of pro-life organizations, churches or other groups from impacting Congress. It’s imperative that you contact key senators, as well as your own, as soon as possible. Ask them to oppose any provisions that restrict grassroots activity in the final conference committee version of the lobbying reform bill. Contact key Senators:
