Research Killing Human Embryos Must Not Receive Tax Funding

Life Issues Institute opposes a bill, currently in the House of Representatives, that mandates using tax dollars to fund embryonic stem cell research.

The House of Representatives will soon vote on HR 810, which would overturn the Bush administration’s policy of funding only research on embryonic stem cell lines already in existence. Reps. Mike Castle, a Delaware Republican, and Diane DeGette, a Colorado Democrat have sponsored this legislation. HR 810 would reverse the President’s limits and authorize federally funded research killing human embryos for stem cells.

Bradley Mattes, Executive Director of Life Issues Institute, said, “The federal government should not play a role of funding medical experimentation on human life, particularly experiments which kill human embryos. This unproven science hasn’t treated a single human patient. On the other hand, research using adult stem sells do not kill human life, and has treated over fifty-eight diseases and conditions. We enthusiastically support adult stem cell research.”

Life Issues Institute is urging individuals to contact their congressmen immediately by providing an easy link from our website at www.lifeissues.org
