Presentation to
Terri Schindler Schiavo's Family
August 12, 2010
It’s always a moving experience when I’m with Terri Schiavo’s family. This was certainly the case last night when Ellen and I attended an event here in Cincinnati with Mary Schindler and her children, Suzanne Schindler Vitadamo and Bobby Schindler.
I got to know the Schindler family when not long after Terri’s death the film crew and I went down to Florida to interview them for our weekly TV program, Facing Life Head-On. Here’s a link to that two-part program if you’re interesting in watching online. Part one: http://www.facinglife.tv/episode/season_1/episode_3/episode_3.html
Part two: http://www.facinglife.tv/episode/season_1/episode_4/episode_4.html
Last summer I had the distinct honor to do a follow-up program and interviewed the family again at Bob and Mary’s home. It was the first and only interview Bob did since suffering a stroke, so it was especially special to me. Here’s a link to that episode: http://www.facinglife.tv/episode/season_3/episode_13/episode_313.html
August 29 marks the first anniversary of the death of Bob Schindler, Terri’s father. So I thought it was important to pause and remember Bob’s life during the event last night. Cincinnati Right to Life who put the event together graciously agreed.
I had our staff take a still shot from Bob’s last interview which we nicely matted and framed. After Bobby spoke, I presented them with the picture. It was an emotional time for everyone in the lecture hall. I thought you’d be interested in seeing photos of that presentation.
Please keep the efforts of the Schindler family in your prayers. I would highly recommend a book written by them called A Life That Matters, which can be ordered on their website: www.terrisfight.org. It’s compelling reading.
