RU 486 Has Killed Seven Women
Since RU 486, the French abortion pill has become generally available in the western world, it has killed seven women. Details of this have been published in the July issue of Life Issues Institute's "Connector." This is also available on their web (www.lifeissues.org) and in a new brochure, which we have available. It is a completely revised edition of "RU 486 - A Human Pesticide"

Stem Cells Treating Diabetes?
According to the BBC, 23rd August, researches at Toronto University researchers have used pancreatic stem cells to treat diabetes in adult mice. Obviously, with this success the next step would be to treat diabetic humans. Best we tell this to the financial sponsors of research in embryonic stem cells. The chance for embryonic cells curing diabetes is at this point only a fantasy. Here, however, we have non-embryonic or adult stem cells already curing diabetes in research animals. Keep it up guys!

Margaret Sanger
"(Our objective is) unlimited sexual gratification without the burden of unwanted children… (Women must have the right) to live…to love…to be lazy…to be an unmarried mother…to create…to destroy…The marriage bed is the most degenerative influence in the social order. The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it." Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthhood,The Woman Rebel Volume 1, Number 1

Morning After Pill Condemed
The very respected medical journal, Annals of Pharmacotherapy, July, '04, in an article by Gene Rudd, MD, makes a strong case to support the U.S. Food and Drug Administrations ban on over-the-counter sales of the morning after pill. He notes that unsupervised access will put women's health at risk. He makes a strong point that it will increase sexually transmitted infections. The article notes the scientific evidence that it is an abortifacient and does not offer women correct information about the drug. We might also add that in England where it has been available for some years, has sharply increased teen-age promiscuity as well as exploitation of minor girls by older men because they can get a pill the next day to prevent any "problem" from developing.

Abortion In Trinidad and Tobago
Abortions are not legal in this Caribbean Island nation of 1.3 million people. It still officially operates under the 19th century British law, The Offenses Against a Person Act, which protects human life from conception. The group "ASPIRA" has been making a determined push to change the law and to officially legalize abortion. According to Human Life International, if this were brought to a vote of the people it would be defeated by a 3 or 4 to 1 margin. Planned Parenthood is pouring 20,000 U.S. dollars into this small country every month and an elite group continues to push for abortion.

Smallest Infant Survives
The August 19th edition of The New England Journal of Medicine reports on the smallest infant to survive past infancy. She is now fifteen years old. It reports that, "this child has none of the physical or neurological problems that often afflict such children as they grow up." Madeleine Mann was born at 26 weeks gestation weighing 9 ounces (254 gm). In reporting on such survivors, it is important to remember that maturation is a factor of age, not of weight and this little girl was a spectacular example of a 26 week "runt" who, although incredibly small, nevertheless was apparently 26 weeks mature so that her body functions and organs were able to function outside of the womb. What was the youngest baby ever born in terms of weeks of gestation? There are two survivors at 20 weeks. Survivors at 24 and 25 weeks are now fairly common.

Euthanasia Deaths in Belgium
After one year of operation, the Belgium government has announced that 203 people were killed by euthanasia in that country in its first year of operation. Several hundred doctors attended the recent national medical meeting there. An informal consensus was that there could be an actual figure of 1,000 deaths. A leading pro-death spokesman, in response to this, has asked that the practice be expanded to include teenagers and more disabled persons.

Oregon, Patients Pain Now Worse
Assisted suicide advocates made a strong point that pain management for dying patients would improve after Oregon legalized assisted suicide. According to an article in the Journal of Palliative Medicine, conducted by Oregon Health and Science University researchers, the fact is that palliative care for dying patients has gotten worse. This has occurred in the face of almost no rules or regulations being enforced regarding the new law on assisted suicide.

Perth, Australia - Marie Stopes Abortion Mill
The management of a Marie Stopes Abortion Mill in Perth, Australia has arranged to have a seven-foot wall erected between their institution and a neighboring childcare center. The reason for this is women coming for abortions were upset by the sound of children playing.

Kofi Annan, Abortion Group is "Shining Example"
UN Secretary Gen. Kofi Annan was given an award from the International Women's Health Coalition. This is one of the most radical, pro-abortion groups at the United Nations. It works to subvert national laws protecting unborn children all over the world. He said: "I want to pay tribute to the International Women's Health Coalition for the work it is doing around the globe. It and its partners provide indispensable leadership for the health and rights of girls and women worldwide. You are a shining example." And we pay part of this guy's salary.

New UN Ambassador
The current US Ambassador to the UN, John Negroponte is nowthe US Ambassador to Iraq. In his place, President Bush has nominated former Senator John Danforth. This is an excellent nomination. During his years as a Senator he had a 100% Pro-Life voting record. He consistently voted against taxpayer funding of abortions, including tax money being used for abortion overseas. The only questionable vote on his record was shortly before he retired when he supported the use of fetal tissue from abortions in research. He supported the nomination of Clarence Thomas and Robert Bork to the US Supreme Court. He is an Episcopal priest and former Missouri Attorney General. The Senate must confirm his nomination.

Radical Islam?
The Portuguese newspaper, Publico, interviewed Omar Bakri Muhammad, a suspected El Quada terrorist. Here is what he said about killing civilians, "We don't make a distinction between civilians and non-civilians, innocence and non-innocence, only between Muslims and non-believers. The life of a non-believer has no value. There is no sanctity in it. Terror is the language of the twenty-first century. If I want something, I terrorize you to achieve it. The word terrorism is not new among Muslims. Muhammad said, 'I am the prophet who laughs when he is killing the enemy…' It is not only a question of killing, it is laughing while we are killing."

South Korea Ageing
Ten years ago the mean fertility index, i.e. the number of children a woman has in her lifetime was 1.67. Last year it was 1.19. A minimum of 2.1 is now needed to replace current population. South Korea's rate is among the lowest in the world.

World Population Crashing
The US Census Bureau has released a report "Global Population Profile: 2002." It notes that the world's population growth rate, 2.2% in 1963, was 1.2% in 2002. "Census Bureau projections show this slow down in population growth continuing into the foreseeable future. We predict that the fertility level for the world as a whole will drop below replacement level before 2050." In 1990, the average woman in the world gave birth to 3.3 children. By 2002 it was 2.6.
Steven Mosher, President of Population Research Institute said, "As birthrates fall into the cellar, it's time for the US government to stop spending hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars each year on programs designed to lower even further the number of babies born. The USAID's office of population should be shut down, so should the UNFPA. All population monies should be shifted to pro-natal programs. Otherwise, this looming threat of global depopulation will become a devastating reality." In addition, in December, the United Nations population division released its report, which included predicting that the population of the world will soon spiral downward from its current 6.3 billion to 2.3 billion by the year 2300.

Singapore Desperate for Babies
Twenty years ago Singapore was trying to reduce the birth rate. Now they are trying to raise it. New policies include an increase in maternity and child care leave, cash incentives to new mothers and cutting the civil services working week by half a day to give parents more time with their children. Might we humbly suggest that they forbid killing unborn babies as another smart move?

Demographic Catastrophe?
According to John Rhys-Davies, "There is a demographic catastrophe happening in Europe that nobody wants to talk about, that we dare not bring up because we are so cagey about not offending people racially. And rightly we should be. But this is a cultural thing as well. By 2020, 50% of the children in Holland, under the age of eighteen, will be of Muslim descent. Currently about 50 million Muslims are living in Europe, accounting for the biggest ethnic influx into modern Europe. Combine the two events of Europe's "birth dearth" and Muslim immigration, and….This is changing the very complexion of Western civilization. If it means the replacement of one genetic stock with another genetic stock, that doesn't matter too much, but if it involves the replacement of Western civilization with a different civilization with different cultural values, then it is something we really ought to discuss. True democracy has come from our Greco-Judeo-Christian western experience. If we lose these things this will be a catastrophe for the world.

Canada-Lowest Birthrate in History
Statistics from the year 2002 show that Canada's birthrate has declined in 11 of the last 12 years, for a total decline of 25% in the last decade. The only province showing a slight increase was Alberta. The fertility rate in Canada now is 1.5 births per woman. We note that in Canada abortion-on-demand is legal until birth. Perhaps enough said.

Fiscal Meltdown in 25 Years
The Financial Times has printed a report conducted by Standard and Poors. It found that European countries including Germany, France and Greece could see debt grow to over 200% of gross domestic product by 2050. Japan would face a debt of more than 700%. Richard Jackson, senior fellow in charge of demography project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in the US said, "In a scenario which is about as optimistic as you can get, that still leaves fiscal meltdown in just about every country in 25 years.

Is Fetal Ultrasound Safe?
We have been hearing political concerns about "potential undocumented" complications from the use of ultrasound fetal photos during pregnancy. Need we note that this use of ultrasound has been proven safe over almost 40 years of diagnostic use and in multiple studies. Now we are seeing ultrasound photo shops opening in shopping malls. The instant popularity of such photo availability has had many beneficial effects. Women improve their health behavior during pregnancy; fathers and mothers become more invested and bond with their baby. This positive experience can have a lasting impact. We suspect that these unproven dire warnings are more ideological than medical and are probably because this offers yet another threat to the abortion establishment. From everything now known medically, we can only smile and say, "go ahead, get a picture and take one to grandma."

Another Adult Stem Cell Breakthrough
These seem to be happening at least once a month now but here is the latest and this one could be a delayed bombshell. Researches at Tufts New England Medical Center report in the Journal of the American Medical Association" that they have uncovered evidence that fetal stem cells may be migrating from the developing fetal baby into the mother's bloodstream and honing in on diseased tissues and organs in the mother's body. The effect of these cells is to heal, to have therapeutic potential for that mother. The chief of medical genetics, Dr. Dianna Bianchi said, "If we can prove this, it could change the entire debate over embryonic stem cell research because these stem cells are taken from ethical sources. This would make cloning and the killing of human embryos to obtain stem cells unnecessary."

Pregnant Plus Alcohol Equals Nerve Damage
A recent study out of Chile, published in the March issue of the Journal of Pediatrics, brings more information about drinking during pregnancy. They report that infants born to women who drink heavily during pregnancy may experience damage to the nerves in their arms and legs. This is in addition to the well-known mental retardation and other birth defects. Heavy drinking was defined as four beers or equivalent a day. This is the first study to show that maternal alcohol consumption may cause peripheral nerve damage in their infants.

Dutch Abortions Drop?
New figures show that the number of abortions in The Netherlands has dropped for the first time in a decade. Such figures are highly questionable, however, as the Dutch define abortion in their reports different than most other nations. "Menstrual extraction", which is a surgical removal of the developing embryo, is not included among their abortion statistics. In almost all other nations it is, as it properly should be, included among "induced abortions." Even so, if the number has dropped, we find this gratifying.

Young People More Conservative in US
According to John Leo in US News and World Report, a Harvard poll has turned up some interesting data concerning young people in the US In 1971, 38% of college students self-identified as liberal. Last fall it was 24%, with 21% calling themselves conservative (University of California, Los Angeles). At Harvard, 61% of college students support President Bush. Note that, nationwide, at the same time, only 53% supported him.
