Kenya – Now Amendments?

The new constitution has been approved by a 7 – 3 margin. Education Minister William Ruto stated, “The majority had their way, but we now propose immediate consideration of amendments to protect the unborn, as the vast majority who voted for it did not realize that it legalized abortion and favored homosexual rights.”

Biden Supports Pro-Abortion Kenya Constitution

Visiting Nairobi in Kenya, United States’ Vice President Joe Biden strongly supported the new proposed constitution which allows legal abortion.

Europe - Retirement Age Going Older

A top German economist has detailed that continuing extreme low birth rates in Europe will soon mandate that no citizen can retire before age 70.

Polish Women Abort in Britain?

Claims have been made that “thousands” of Polish women have traveled to Britain for abortions. However, the UK Department of Health Statistics show that only 20 Polish women had abortions at public expense in England and Wales in the entire year of 2009.

Canadian Poll – Most Say Abortion is Morally Wrong

Out of Carleton University School of Journalism, this poll found that: 89% of respondents agreed that “nothing is more important than family”; 67% agreed that marriage by definition is between a man and a woman; 60% agreed that “abortion is morally wrong.”

Russia – More Babies

At a special convention in New York recently, the Russian Federation announced good news. Finally, more babies are being born than are being aborted. As a result of this, last year Russia reported its first annual population increase since 1995.

In U.K., Abortions Increase

The abortion numbers in England and in Wales have again broken records with a 3% rise in the past year, and ever younger girls being aborted. There were 205,598 British babies killed in 2007, which amounts to about one-fourth of all pregnancies.

Dutch Euthanasia Cases Increase

According to official statistics, 2% of all deaths in the Netherlands are now caused by doctors directly killing their patient. This follows a similar increase the previous year.

Ten Million Girls Killed In India

A government minister stated that ten million girls have been killed by their parents in India in the last two decades, and that this is a “national crisis.” Girls are seen as liabilities by many parents because of the practice of dowry, whereas, men are seen as breadwinners who will care for their parents. The minister stated, “The minute the child is born, and she opens her mouth to cry, they put sand into her mouth and her nostrils so she chokes and dies… They bury infants in pots alive and bury the pots. They put tobacco in her mouth. They hang them upside down like a bunch of flowers to dry. We have more passion for tigers in this country, more for taking care of stray dogs on the road, but this society ruthlessly hunts down girl children.” Dr. Maria Mascarenhas, a founding board member of the International Right to Life Federation, Inc. states that in Delhi, for every thousand boys born as third child, only 219 girls are born.

China – Gender Imbalance Worsening

The normal radio of sex at birth is approximately 105 males for every 100 females. In China, a new study reports that the ratio is now 120 males for every 100 females. Males under the age of 20 now exceed females by more than 32 million. According to the report this is attributed almost entirely to couples’ decisions to abort female fetuses.

France – No Longer Catholic

Only 50% of French people identify themselves as Catholic today, while 31% are professed atheists. Among the “Catholics” 10% attend church services and only half say that they believe in God. There is a sharp increase in Muslims. In Southern France there are now more mosques than churches, and 30% of children under 20 are Islamic. In some of the larger cities this percent is as high as 45%.

In Great Britain, the Muslim population is up 30-fold in the last 30 years to 2.5 million. There are now 1,000 mosques in England. Many were converted from churches. In Holland, 50% of all newborns are Muslim. In Russia, it is one in five. In Belgium, it is one in four, while 50% of all newborns are Muslims and the number continues to rise.

World-wide Maternal Deaths Drop Sharply

British medical journal Lancet reported that deaths of women during childbirth dropped by a startling 35% from 1980 – 2008, from more than a 500,000 yearly to 343,000. This new report, by researchers from the University of Washington and the University of Queensland in Australia, succeeds earlier reports that the rate had remained fairly steady at about a half-million with only modest improvements in some areas. The Lancet’s editor commented, “The overall message for the first time in a generation is one of persistent and welcome progress.”

Ottawa Defunds Feminist Groups

The Harper government in Canada has defunded more than a dozen radical feminist organizations. Pro-life sources said that the defunding was long overdue as pro-life women’s groups have never taken a dime from the Federal government. In any case, the pro-life REAL women stated that the feminist organizations involved “appeared to be blind to the fact that they are only a small group of women whose numbers dwindle each day and have little membership to support them.” Let’s hope this is true.

Romanian Leaders, Pro-Life, Timisoara Declaration

The document outlines and affirms the right to life from the moment of conception, and the central importance of the family based on marriage between one man and one woman.

Spain – Teen Pregnancies

Its Institute for Family Policy has stated that more than half of teen pregnancies in Spain end in abortion. Of the almost 30,000 teen pregnancies, about 13,800 gave birth while 15,300 aborted. In the face of this, Spain’s Socialist government has formally unveiled plans to further radicalize Spain’s abortion laws. Sixteen-year-olds would be allowed to abort without parental consent, and would have abortion on demand after that age for those older than sixteen.

U.S. Knights of Columbus and Its Pro-Abortion Members

Responding to continuing complaints, a K of C official said, “That this Catholic fraternal order would not expel pro-abortion members (the K of C strongly opposes abortion).” It is withholding this condemnation out of deference to the fact that bishops have not excommunicated such individuals. Presumably, if bishops would act, the K of C would follow immediately, but, hey fellows, how about you leading the way.

Nicaragua - Fewer Maternal Deaths

A new law in Nicaragua literally prohibited all abortions, giving unconditional protection to preborn humans. It had been unanimously approved by their congress. In the face of this, pro-abortion forces still complained that abortion was needed and that maternal deaths would now increase. But two years later, Nicaragua’s national major newspaper published the news that maternal deaths have decreased. “The Ministry of Health reports a total of 21 maternal deaths. There are 29 fewer deaths than last year.” It noted that maternal health conditions had improved; nevertheless this completely refutes any attempt by pro-abortion forces to claim that more women will die because this law was passed.

Canada March for Life Again Sets Record

This year a record 12,500 Canadians took part in the 13 th Annual March for Life. Attending were a record of 21 members of Parliament. It drew what Life Site News called unprecedented media coverage from across the country, with the Toronto Star estimating the crowd at 15,000.

Australia – No Fetal Development

“The Wonder of Life before Birth” was approved in Australia’s NSW Department of Education and Training. It had been approved for primary grades. Its director said the program was “very much biology and no politics.” Abortion was not mentioned, except that it is mentioned to be the taking of an unborn life. This fetal development program has now been barred from public schools.

Abortion Drug Approved

In the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the new “Ella” drug. This is said to prevent pregnancy up until five days after intercourse. This, of course, is nonsense. If ovulation has occurred, sperm swim through the female genital tract in as little as 30 minutes and she then can be fertilized within that half hour. The problem here is that almost fifty years ago pro-abortion people redefined the word conception so it would no longer mean the time of union of sperm and egg, but rather the time of implantation within the uterus. By that definition, even though this new drug prevents a five-day-old living human embryo from planting and therefore kills him or her, this drug is now falsely called a contraceptive.

The reason the backers of Ella can promote it as “more effective” is because Ella, like its close chemical cousin RU 486—blocks progesterone receptors in the uterine lining. This destroys the capacity of the mother’s reproductive organs to produce the progesterone necessary to support the embryo through the first 10 weeks of pregnancy.

U.S. CDC – Homo Men More HIV Than Hetero Men

A data analysis released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control reports that the rate of new HIV infection among men who have sex with men is more than 44 times that of other men. The director of the CDC’s national center commented, “While the heavy toll of HIV and syphilis among homosexual and bisexual men has long been recognized, this analysis shows just how stark the health discrepancies are between this and other populations.”

New U.S. Office of Women’s Issues

Melanne Verveer is the new U.S. Ambassador for Global Women’s Issues. She has long history of aggressively pushing abortion worldwide. Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State, stated “that she would be the vital voice to make sure that the concerns of women and girls remain central . . . that she will protect the rights of women, including their rights to reproductive health care, and reproductive health includes access to abortion.”

Mexico – Birth Rate Falling

It is not there yet but the birthrate in Mexico continues to fall. At the rate it is going, it will soon be approaching the birthrate of European countries like Spain, France, Italy and England. These countries are simply dying as their birthrates don’t even come close to replacing those who die.

UK: Contraception and Abortion for Children

New guidelines from the General Medical Council have instructed physicians in Britain that while doctors should try to inform their parents, nevertheless, this is not required and children of any age may be given contraceptives or have abortions without the knowledge or consent of their parents. Its book on abortion has a “health service” and it speaks of the fact that the “welfare of children and young people” requires such confidentiality. It assumes that a “young person” is competent to consent to what is in their best interest. This type of double talk comes right out of the Planned Parenthood manuals.

Congressman Tells UN Abortion Is Harmful

U.S. Congressman Chris Smith of New Jersey, speaking at the United Nations regarding its millennium goals said, “The inclusion of legalized abortion would be unjust to the tiniest humans, intellectually dishonest, and counterproductive.”

Berlin – UNFPA Bars Conservatives

In September, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the German government held a conference in Berlin to promote sexual and reproductive rights. Billed as a “global” event, nevertheless, it deliberately blocked any participation or attendance from anyone in the media or elsewhere who did not agree with their pro-abortion agenda.

China Human Fetal Soup Served

Dr. Mark Miravalle has published a book, The Seven Sorrows of China. In it, he says, “The great majority of the people in China have lost any concept that there is anything at all wrong with an abortion. It is considered less significant than a flu shot, a minor procedure like going to the dentist, a simple solution to a simple problem that doesn’t merit any soul-searching… China has become a nation who without conscience aborts its own future generations. This is Satan’s ultimate victory here… as a new macabre manifestation of this conscience-less abortion mentality, note the recent opening of restaurants which now serve ‘Fetal soup at a price of $40 a bowl.’”

African Union Backs Abortions

The African Union in its annual summit meeting made maternal and child mortality a continent-wide priority. It extended the non-binding, pro-abortion Malputo plan of action for an additional five years. Supposedly concentrating on non-controversial interventions to reduce maternal deaths, the Executive Director of the UNFPA in a major speech focused once again on “unsafe abortions, reproductive rights, reproductive health services, and sex education.”

Israel, Small Abortion Drop

Israeli abortions are authorized by hospital committees and 98% are approved. This includes cases of rape, incest, adultery, the woman under 17 or over 40 years, for her health, or if the baby has some handicap. Twenty thousand abortions were done in 2008 which translates to 129 abortions per 1,000 live births.

Warsaw March for Life

Held under the motto “A Family Friendly State” a March for Life was held in Warsaw. It attracted families from across Poland as well as from Belarus, Ukraine, Brazil, United States, Germany, Portugal, and France.
