Morning After Pill Fails in Britain
An essential argument for those wanting over-the-counter sales of the morning-after pill to teens is that it will reduce pregnancies and abortions. Here is what happened in Britain. We note that the morning-after pill has been available in England over-the-counter to young teenage girls for the last five years. During this time abortion rates have risen in the fifteen to forty-four age groups from 11 per 1,000 women in 1994 to 18 per 1,000 in 2004.
Abortions have risen from 186,300 in 2001 to 194,400 in 2005.
Israel Kills 40,000 Jews Annually
Recent reports detail that the Israeli government approves and pays for about 20,000 abortions a year, with another 20,000 done by private doctors and facilities. We note that the Jewish birthrate is below replacement level, while the Arabs and other non-Jews birthrate is more than double that of the Israelis. Thinking only of the future of the Jewish nation, there is only one way to describe this,
and that is national suicide.
Chile Pill, Now Legal
A high court in the nation of Chile has approved the right of the government to distribute the morning-after pill to minor teenagers without the
parent's knowledge or consent.
Taiwan - Abortion Restrictions Proposed
A bill approved by the Executive Yuan, requires a three-day wait prior to an abortion. It also requires that the women consult with a physician before and inform her husband. The consent of a parent or a legal guardian would be needed for girls under eighteen.
Not surprisingly, pro-abortion forces vigorously oppose this change.
Human-Cow Hybrids?
A request has been filed with the British Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority regulatory body for permission to experiment with human-cow embryos. The scientists at Newcastle University and King's
College have given assurance that all of the semi-human embryos would be ultimately killed.
Breast Cancer Study Has Serious Flaws
The October issue of International Journal of Cancer has published a study claiming no increase in breast cancer risk from abortion. It is seriously flawed. The study included many women who were over the age of forty when abortion was legalized. So it compared many younger women with recent abortions to older breast cancer patients, who were too old to have had legal abortions during their fertile years. Professor Joel Brind calls this bad science.
So here is another study to ignore.
Brain Death Reviewed In Rome
After many years of study and debate, the question of whether an individual who has been declared brain dead is really dead was once again reviewed. This was at the request of Pope Benedict and involved twenty neurology experts from all over the world in September. This group, The Pontifical Academy of Social Science, discussed the prevailing definition and some continuing objections to it. They noted that the consensus had been that human death has occurred when there is "the complete and irreversible cessation of all brain activity including the brain stem." After two days of discussion the Vatican Academy once again accepted this current definition stating, "There is no reason to again go over the criteria accepted by the
overwhelming majority of the world's scientists."
And Now An Artificial Liver
More from British scientists: We now hear that they have created, using stem cells alone, an artificial liver.
They used adult stem cells from umbilical cord blood.
Swiss Suicides and Counting
A Swiss lawyer who is the head of a euthanasia group in Zurich has announced that its assisted suicide centers now have helped to kill
573 people from all over the world.
Birth Control In English Schools
According to Patrick Buckley and the Daily Mail, March 24, every school in England will shortly have a birth control nurse. The Departments of Education and Health have announced plans to put nurses in all primary and secondary schools. They will be able to "provide contraceptive advice to pupils and emergency contraception and pregnancy testing to young women." They will also be expected to help girls arrange abortions and should be aware of "confidentiality issue", which means that schoolgirls will be able to be given the morning-after pill and get abortions without their parent's knowledge. Britain's indigenous birthrate has dropped to an alarming level and yet it, like so many western European countries,
continues to commit demographic suicide through abortion and contraception.
Egg Donation Hazardous
In the face of increasing talk of payment for human egg donation, it is important to note that the extraction of human eggs is an invasive, high-risk procedure with potentially grave consequences to the life and health of the women. Women have been reported to die as a result of egg donations. Studies are currently being conducted on the link between cancer and the drugs given to women to hyper-stimulate ovulation for egg harvesting. The long-term effects of egg donation on the women are still unknown. Many groups, from both left and right, are coming out against egg donation. It is noted that last year the UN General Assembly passed a declaration calling on
member states to avoid all forms of human cloning, which is what egg donations are all about.
UN and Population
We now have report from the UN Population Division (UNPD) not to be confused with the United Nations Fund for Population Activity, which has quite a different position. The UNPD has stated, "Even though population increased more rapidly during the 20th century than ever more, economic input grew even faster owing to the accelerating tempo of technological progress. While world population increased four fold, world real gross domestic product increased twenty to forty times. This allowed the world to not only sustain a four-fold
population increase but also to do so at vastly higher standards of living." (UNPD)
A Dutch Pedophile Party?
Pedophiles in Holland have registered a new political party. Its object is to lower the legal age of sex relations to 12. It would also allow child pornography and bestiality. The Netherlands already has very liberal policies legalizing prostitution and same sex marriage as well as drug usage.
So this is the next step?
Same Sex "Marriage" in EU?
A new law, the "European Free Movement Directive" has become legally effective. It requires EU member states to grant residency to homosexuals who are not citizens
if their partner is a citizen of an EU country.
Government Subsidies Increase French Birth Rate
Uniformly across most of Europe the reproductive birth rate hovers around 1.4 babies per woman in her lifetime. The demographic fallout from this will be catastrophic. Alone among western countries France comes close to replacement level at 1.8. Part of the reason at least for this is that France spends 15% of its total budget for family and child services.
These incentives include:
- Three year paid parental leave with guaranteed job protection upon returning back to work
- Universal full time preschool starting at age 3
- Subsidized daycare before age 3
- Stipends for in home nannies
- Monthly child care allowances that increase with the number of children
And Also - Estonia
Estonia has recently raised its total fertility rate from 1.3 to 1.5 children per woman in her lifetime. Credit is being given to a government initiative providing women with monthly stipends. While not as comprehensive and generous as those in France,
such assistance is being credited for the increase.
Europe - Birth Rates at Historic Low
In 1990, every European country had a birth rate of more than 1.3 children per women in her lifetime. By 2002, fifteen countries were below that rate, and six more were between 1.3 and 1.4. The drastic fall recently has included most eastern European countries. 2.1 children per women is the number needed to maintain current population level.
France is the only country, at 1.8, even close.
China Still Only One Child
The Chinese Government has recently removed a provision from its criminal law that would have made it a crime to identify the gender of an embryo or fetus for non-medical reasons. This law had been widely ignored.
Now the law has been officially revoked.
U.N. End Violence
The U.N. Secretary General's study on violence against children is being debated. The British pro-life group, S.P.U.C., in a press release, urged the U.N. "to include a world-wide prohibition of abortion, the greatest of all violence against young, defenseless, human beings. The gravest abuse of children is to deprive them of life before they are even born. Tragically, this U. N. study makes no reference to the tens of millions of babies unjustly killed
every year in countries throughout the world."
Pro-Life/Pro-Abortion Violence?
Human Life International has opened new web-based information,
www.AbortionViolence.com.
Easy to navigate, it separates murders, rapes, and other violence by abortionists, men who kill girlfriends or wives because they are pregnant and other crimes. It shows the pro-abortion movement to be the most violent political movement in U. S. history, documenting over 7,000 violent acts.
This includes 269 homicides since 2000.
European Parliament Critical of China
The European Parliament by a vote of 351 to 48 (160 abstentions) passed a resolution that "expresses its deep disquiet at the numerous violations of women's and girl's rights resulting from forced compliance with the Chinese government's family planning policy, including selective abortions, forced sterilizations, and the abandonment of girls on a massive scale. It calls on China to rethink the concrete implementation of its one child policy in order
to tackle the economic and social disadvantages inherent in that policy."
Euthanasia Semantics In Canada
Meeting in Toronto recently, the World Euthanasia Movement emphasized the power of words. It is noted that they no longer use the words, "suicide or assisted-suicide", which have negative connotations. When they change these terms to "aid in dying" or "end of life choices"
they gain 15 per cent more public support in their polls.
Britain - No Care Under Twenty Two Weeks?
The UK's Royal College of Ob-Gyn is suggesting that babies born younger than twenty-two weeks would be termed "pre-viable" and not be even given birth certificates. Each year, some three hundred infants are born before twenty-two weeks with
about fifty of them after failed abortions.
Tony Blair, More of Same
In the face of the obvious failure of contraception to reduce teen pregnancies and abortions in England, Prime Minister Tony Blair is pushing for more of the same. He vows better access to contraceptives for those under eighteen, free morning after pills to pupils in every school in England, and more contraception and secret abortions for teenagers without their parent's knowledge. This is in the face of similar prior efforts
during which teen pregnancies have increased 12% in the last decade.
In UK Abortions Cause Mental Health Problems
A leading group of psychologists and mental health professionals in England have published a
group letter in the London Times. It stated, "Research published in the
Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry in January has shown that even women without past mental health problems are at risk of psychological ill effects after abortion. Women who have had abortions had twice the level of mental health problems, and three times the risk of major depressive illness,
as those who had given birth or had never been pregnant.
Stem Cells Treat Lung Diseases
Dr. D. McKenna, at the Clinical Self-Therapy Lab at University of Minnesota has coaxed umbilical cord blood stem cells to differentiate into type 2 alveolar lung cells.
Further research on this might bring a significant method of treating cystic fibrosis.
Adult Stem Cells for Diabetes?
Researchers at Tulane University in New Orleans injected human stem cells from bone marrow into diabetic mice, which already had high blood sugar levels and kidney damage. Several weeks later, the blood sugars had become normal as the stem cells apparently repaired the insulin producing tissues. This was an animal experiment, however,
it offers great hope for the use of adult stem cells to treat human diabetes.
Johns Hopkins University Stem Cells For Heart Attacks
Scientists at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore are treating heart attacks with adult stem cells. They have taken the cells from healthy heart tissue and are using them to repair other areas in the heart that have been damaged by heart attacks.
Note: These are adult, not embryonic stem cells.
IVF Lawsuit in Ireland
A 38-year-old woman's estranged husband has refused to allow her to use the couple's frozen embryos produced four years ago at a Dublin IVF Clinic. In this landmark lawsuit, she has gone to court to vindicate her right to have these micro babies implanted. Mr. Pat Buckley, Director of the European Life Network has said, "The two embryos in this case must be given every possible opportunity to survive. They are currently imprisoned in a state of suspension and should be afforded the protection of the Irish Constitution, which proclaims their right to
life and guarantees laws to defend and vindicate that right."
