National Lobby Day
Pro-abortion activists
are descending upon Washington, DC today. Desperate to see
abortion covered in the proposed government healthcare plan,
they have banded together for a National Lobby Day.
More than 50
organizations teamed up, frantic to find enough warm bodies to
make a decent showing. They hoped for thousands. They planned
for weeks. But only 500 are expected to participate today,
says
one Planned Parenthood spokesperson.
I think it's getting
harder to find support for their radical agenda.
Recent polls
by the Washington Post, ABC News and CNN
show that more than 60 percent of Americans don't support
federal funding for abortion.
That's a great sign.
And it's making pro-abortionists downright angry.
Today, they plan to
meet with as many senators as possible. They'll insist that
it's a good thing, even necessary to send our federal tax
dollars to abortion mills. That the killing of an unborn
baby is the same as any other kind of healthcare.
Abortion is not
healthcare. So, we need to act fast.
We already sent the
message loud and clear to the US House. The bipartisan
Stupak-Pitts Amendment, which passed by a vote of 240-194, was
an essential step in the right direction.
The amendment
reinforces that taxpayer-supported insurance plans-using
our money-shouldn't pay for killing innocent human life.
Women can still purchase private insurance plans or
supplemental policies that cover abortion but with their
money, not ours.
That seems reasonable,
many might say. But a National Organization for Women
memo
labels the measure "abusive," "dangerous" and "sexist." They
want to force us to pay for millions of tragedies.
The good news is that
Senator Orrin Hatch (UT) plans to introduce a "Stupak-like"
amendment to the Senate bill. Unfortunately, given today's
attack from the pro-abortion delegation and the sheer numbers
of a pro-abortion majority in Congress, any pro-life
amendments-and those who support them-will face severe
criticism.
Please take a moment to
encourage your
Senators
to stand strong for life. Remind them that outside Washington,
DC there's a host of people just like you and me ready to
cheer them on today and every day. A phone call, a letter, an
e-mail from each of us.they add up quickly. Let's act quickly
and turn today into a Pro-Life Lobby Day.
Sincerely for the babies,
Bradley
