Get Back in the Saddle
Now that a few days are
between us and the election, I thought this would be a good
time to reflect. First, we should stop to consider the reality
that America has elected its first African-American president.
Just think, it was only fifty years ago that black citizens
weren’t allowed to drink from the same fountains, stay in the
same hotels, or eat in the same restaurants as whites. Now, a
black family will reside in one of the most sought-after
pieces of real estate in the nation — the White House. But
sadly, that joy is greatly diminished because of the new
president’s stand on abortion.
The tragic reality is
that Barack Obama will be the most pro-abortion president in
the history of our nation. As president, he and pro-abortion
congressional leaders will thwart any attempt to further
pro-life legislation. Further, they will undoubtedly pursue a
radical, pro-abortion agenda. I don’t have to remind you of
Candidate Obama’s pledge to only appoint pro-abortion justices
to the US Supreme Court. Yes, it’s true that history is being
made, but at the expense of millions of lives of preborn
children.
But that’s only half of
the story. I’ve heard from many of you in response to our
press release on the election. Some of you were very
encouraging and urged us to rely on the power of prayer to see
us through. Still, other responses broke my heart. Some
comments were completely void of any hope for the future.
I totally understand
your anger, sadness, fear, brokenness and tears. Trust me,
I’ve shed a few tears of my own. These emotions are justified.
Our job of protecting innocent human life has just gotten much
harder. But hopeless is the last thing we should feel.
Those of us who have
endured the dark years of the Clinton administration have
experienced God’s mercy and support through it all. During the
Obama years, pro-lifers must not waiver in our passion and
dedication to ending abortion-on-demand. If I had a dollar for
every time someone said or wrote that the pro-life movement
was dead, I’d be a wealthy man. The opposite is true; our
movement is growing bigger and stronger, and the cause for
justice will not end. It will not be diminished.
This recent political
loss is a tragedy to be sure, but we have only lost a battle,
not the war. I’m convinced America will right the wrong
inflicted on her by the Supreme Court in 1973. It is such a
flagrant injustice that it cannot and will not stand.
Now, do something for
the babies and yourself. Read this next part out loud and
like you really mean it! Even if someone is in the room
with you.
I promise to stay strong for the babies. I
will pray, work harder and give more of my resources than
ever before in the cause for life until we win. And we
will win!
So be of better cheer,
my friend. Together we will weather this storm and come out
stronger for it. We will not give up! You just said it better
than I could have — We will win!
Sincerely for LIFE,
Bradley
