This summer, my nephew, Noah, scaled Grand Teton, the crown jewel of the Teton Mountain Range. I was with his parents at the time and saw how Noah’s mom worried throughout the climb. We were so proud of his accomplishment. So were the parents and family of Andrew Harris who scaled the same summit. I can’t imagine the exhilaration when climbers finally get to the top. Such a feat isn’t on my bucket list. Andrew’s accomplishment will be noted in history books because he happens to have Down syndrome. I rejoice every time an individual with this condition excels because it shows the world they are people who can accomplish great things in life, so we should give them a chance while they’re in the womb. Andrew, you’re the man!
