Governor of Maine Stands up for Life

Bradley Mattes   |   September 22, 2014

Governor Paul LePage of Maine comes from a very personal place when he speaks out against abortion and violence against women. He was the oldest of eighteen children and had a father who routinely beat his mother while pregnant. If the kids stood up for mom, they got it too. When Governor LePage was ten years old, his dad brutally beat his seven-month-pregnant mother, which caused a stillbirth days later. Little Marie died but by the grace of God, the other children survived in the womb while their mother suffered the beatings. Now, the governor’s an outspoken opponent of abortion and violence against women. The recent news about the football player knocking his fiancé unconscious caused him to boycott NFL games until the assailant is permanently kicked out of football.
