Operation Special Delivery

Bradley Mattes   |   August 31, 2012

Imagine a young pregnant wife of a soldier deployed overseas. She’s in a new town, doesn’t know anyone and is going through labor and delivery alone. Add to this the daily uncertainty and worry of having her husband in harm’s way. It’s not only our soldiers who’re serving our country. Their families do too. Patricia Newton is a doula in New Jersey. They assist women during their pregnancies, through delivery and beyond. Patricia has come to the rescue of pregnant moms of soldiers. When she started Operation Special Delivery, she asked area doulas if they’d be willing to donate their services. As a result, doulas from 20 states offered to help. They’re offering their services free of charge. They also assist wives of wounded soldiers and expecting widows. God bless them.
